This female Qilin was owned by Newton Scamander.[1]
Biography[]
In 1932, Newton Scamander encountered this Qilin's mother near a waterfall in the Tianzi Mountains, Kweilin, China. He helped her give birth to this Qilin and a twin sister, but members of Gellert Grindelwald's inner circle, including Credence Barebone, Vinda Rosier and Carrow, interrupted the event, killed the Qilin mother and managed to steal the Qilin's sister. They were unaware that the mother gave birth to twins, and Grindelwald later killed and revived the twin at Nurmengard.[1]
Newt took ownership of this orphaned Qilin, and looked after her in his suitcase of magical beasts. Newt and his friends observed the young Qilin in the Hog's Head Inn with joy, as they complimented its pure and playful nature.[1]
The Qilin before Albus Dumbledore
This Qilin was later taken to the walk of the Qilin ceremony in Bhutan, where she tried to communicate with her twin sister, but because she was dead and reanimated, her sister did not recognise her. After Grindelwald was exposed for cheating, it was her job to properly identify the right Supreme Mugwump; she initially bowed to Albus Dumbledore, sensing his purity of heart, but he politely refused the position, and she then bowed to Vicência Santos, who was then elected. Trotting alongside Santos as she and most of the wizards present advanced on Grindelwald, the Qilin beheld Grindelwald's escape, then later was carried by Bunty to meet with Newt, who returned her to his briefcase.[1]
Physical appearance[]
Being a Qilin, she had golden bronze scales and some appendage dangling from her nose.[1]
