Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are a Muggle rock group, formed in Melbourne, Australia.[1]
History[]
In 1997, one of the band's songs, "O Children," came on the radio while Hermione Granger and Harry Potter were camping out on the hunt for Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes, and the two friends danced to it.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The album on which "O Children" is featured, Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, was released in 2004. This makes the song's appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 an anachronism, as the dancing scene would have taken place in 1997, based on the novels' canonical timeline. However, other such inconsistencies suggest the movie timeline may take place about 10 years after the novels, roughly contemporaneously with the movie releases.
- It is also possible that the track could have appeared on one of the group's earlier releases in the Harry Potter universe, as the band have been together since 1983,[1]
