The Noxious Poison was a potion that released green clouds of smoke when completed. It was used as a poison, of unknown exact effect.[1]
Etymology[]
In Latin, "Noxious" means unpleasant and harmful, generally referring to odorous fumes, hence the green clouds that emit from it. Noxious is a descendant of another Latin word, nocere, meaning to hurt or injure. "Noxa" means hurtful or injurious. This means that the potion probably injures the drinker.
Behind the scenes[]
- In the second video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows during the Ousting of Severus Snape and Courtyard Apocalypse, Severus Snape and Fenrir Greyback throw a green bottle with a potion that creates green smoke and hurts the player. This is possibly the Noxious Poison.
