Obliviator ad

A MACUSA recruitment ad in The New York Ghost

Obliviator was the occupational title of a witch or wizard specially trained in the use of Memory Charms, and employed by a wizarding governing body to help ensure that the wizarding world was safely concealed from the non-magical community.

Overview[]

Obliviators used Memory Charms to modify and/or erase the recollection of magical phenomena by Non-magic people, as per the International Statute of Secrecy. Obliviators were used by both the Ministry of Magic (Obliviator Headquarters) and the Magical Congress of the United States of America (Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation).

In Great Britain, the renowned Mnemone Radford was the first Obliviator to work for the British Ministry of Magic.[1]
