Ogg was the gamekeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during Arthur Weasley and Molly Prewett's time at the school. He may have had Rubeus Hagrid as his assistant, as Hagrid later replaced him under suspicious circumstances. In 1995, Molly, now married to Arthur, reminisced a great deal about Ogg after seeing the intriguing Whomping Willow when visiting Harry before the third task.[1]
Behind the scenes
- Molly Weasley mentions that Ogg was the gamekeeper, but it is thought that Rubeus Hagrid was his assistant at the time and was possibly the next gamekeeper. It is unknown what really happened, as when Molly attended Hogwarts, the timeline dictates that Hagrid would have already been expelled a few decades before and presumably already have been allowed to stay on as gamekeeper himself. However, he may have been Ogg's assistant during that time before taking on the position.
