- Jacob's sibling: "Wow… We're getting a new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor because the old one ran off last night…"
- Penny Haywood: "No one knows what spooked our professor, but Dumbledore's called in an emergency replacement. They're starting today!"
- — Jacob's sibling and Penny Haywood discuss the professor's departure from Hogwarts[src]
This individual was a witch or wizard who became the first professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the 1990–1991 school year. At some point during the school year, this teacher left Hogwarts without a word and were replaced by Professor Olivia Green.[1]
Biography[]
Just like his immediate predecessor, this teacher was not very competent, as Albus Dumbledore allowed William Weasley to continue his extracurricular Defence Against the Dark Arts evening classes for the second year in a row.[2]
In the middle of the school year, the teacher ran off without a word and left Hogwarts as they were terribly spooked by something during the night. Penny Haywood later mentioned to Jacob's sibling that no one had been able to identify what scared the teacher off. As Bill Weasley was called back by Gringotts Wizarding Bank following Eustace Burke's break-in earlier in the year, Dumbledore was forced to call an emergency replacement for the position, prompting him to appoint former Hogwarts student Olivia Green as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.[1]
