These individuals were the older siblings of Ominis Gaunt, a Slytherin student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1890s.[4]
Biography[]
Born into the elite wizarding family of the House of Gaunt, they were pure-blood supremacists who would allegedly cast the Cruciatus Curse on Muggles "for sport", along with their mother and father, from whom they learned the curse.[4]
These actions were decried both by their aunt Noctua as well as their brother Ominis. When Ominis refused to cast the curse himself, they cast it on him when he was only a child.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
- Chronologically, it is possible that Marvolo Gaunt was one of the elder siblings who tortured Ominis with the Cruciatus Curse.

Notes and references[]
- ↑ According to Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Chapter 10 (The House of Gaunt), "Marvolo, his son, Morfin, and his daughter, Merope, were the last of the Gaunts, a very ancient Wizarding family"; he is here speaking about Bob Ogden's visit to Gaunt Shack in the summer of 1925 (which happened "beneath a summer sky", "a few months" before Merope eloped with Tom Riddle Senior; Dumbledore also says Voldemort was born about a year after they were married, and his date of birth is given elsewhere as 31 December 1926). This means that, except for these three Gaunts, the rest of the family had been extinct in the male line by that point, and by extension, these individuals had already died.
