An owlet trainer is a wizard who trains up young owls to become pets or post owls.
Owls appear to be able to make a connection between a name of an individual and the individual who bears the name, something that enables them to trace the person in question without the need for an address. The process remains mysterious, even to those who make a living of training owlets.[1]
Trained owls are expensive, and it is not unusual to find a wizarding family sharing a single owl, or procuring the services of an Owl Post Office.[1]
