Patricia McManners was a Welsh ex-Auror and unregistered Animagus living in Swansea.[1]
Biography[]
McManners was a neighbour of Tabitha Smithers, who frequently brought her meat pies on Sundays. McManners had retired from being an Auror prior to 1875 and had also become an unregistered Animagus, taking on the form of a calico cat.[2] In that same year, McManners mistakenly theorised that Smithers's catnip was Dark Magic and infiltrated her house in her Animagus form in an attempt to investigate. Believing her neighbour was actually a stray cat, Smithers adopted her and nicknamed her "Tubs".[1]
However, fifteen years later, in late 1890, Smithers started noticing that "Tubs" was frequently entering her neighbour's property. Believing that "Tubs" was pretending to have not been fed in order to convince McManners to feed her extra food, Smithers followed the cat to her neighbour's house, only to learn that "Tubs" actually was McManners. McManners was arrested due to being an unregistered Animagus, although Smithers felt no resentment towards her neighbour, claiming that she was always a good, if greedy, cat and expressing her slight hope that McManners would agree to continue being her cat upon her release.[1]
Magical abilities and skills[]
- Auror skills: As a retired Auror, McManners would have presumably been skilled with various Auror training skills and defensive magic.[1]
- Transfiguration: McManners mastered Human Transfiguration to the point where she could become an Animagus, taking the animal form of a calico cat.[1]
