This notebook was the personal notebook of Penny Haywood. During the 1986–1987 school year, she used it to record the results of the Hogwarts' Favourites competition.[1]
History[]

Penny acquired this notebook at some point before or during the 1986–1987 school year. During that year, she decided that, to raise everyone's spirits, she would hold a popularity contest titled Hogwarts' Favourites, in which the student body would vote for their favourite thing in several categories. She would record the tallies for the categories in her notebook.[1]
During one potions lesson, Jacob's sibling passed Penny a note with their tallies on it. As Penny was writing them down in the notebook, Snape noticed and confiscated the notebook. Penny was terrified he would read it and realise that he had the fewest votes for Best Professor in the whole school and try to shut the competition down. Jacob's sibling and Penny worked to get the notebook back, but Snape gave it back to Penny and didn't try to shut the competition down, just claiming that students didn't know the effort that their Professors went to in order to teach them well and keep them safe.[1]
At the end of the competition, Penny placed this notebook on the Owl Lecturn and read from it as she announced the tallies.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
