Pike[3] (b. 1975-1982) was a wizard who attended Hogwarts in the 1990s and was Sorted into Slytherin house. He was commonly seen between in the 1993–1994 school year with Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle.[2]
Biography[]
Pike began his education at Hogwarts in 1991, and was Sorted into Slytherin House.[2]
He was part of Draco Malfoy's gang during the 1993–1994 school year and could often be seen with Draco and his associates around the school. He took Care of Magical Creatures as one of his electives.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Pike was portrayed by Bronson Webb in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.[4] He was credited as "Slytherin Boy".
- Before his name was revealed, many fans assumed this individual was Theodore Nott. Pike is somewhat similar in appearance to the way Nott is described in the novels. The difference however is that Pike is shown to be a member of Draco's gang while Nott is only loosely associated with the gang.
- It is possible that Pike was created specifically to replace Gregory Goyle in certain action-oriented scenes, as Josh Herdman had injured his arm and would have been unable to perform them. For instance, Pike replaces Goyle in the scene where Malfoy and his gang harass Ron and Hermione outside the Shrieking Shack. He is also with Draco when Hermione punches him (in the Stone Circle), but in the book (chapter 15), only Crabbe and Goyle are with him (inside the school).
- In the film, Pike is shown to be a Slytherin third-year, as he is shown hanging out with Draco and attending a third-year Care of Magical Creatures class, along with Defence Against the Dark Arts. However, he is not one of the known Slytherin males in Draco's year (Draco, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe, Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott) as established in the books, nor in J. K. Rowling's "original forty". It is possible that he is non-canon, or it could be that he was canonically a Slytherin male in Draco's year who simply was not mentioned in the books.
