- "An old wooden street sign hanging over a shop selling poisonous candles told him he was in Knockturn Alley."
- — Description[src]
A poisonous candle was a candle which released toxic fumes when burned. There was a shop in Knockturn Alley that sold them.[2][3]
History[]
Poisonous candles were rather insidious devices. Functionally speaking, they worked the same as a regular candle, the only difference being that they emitted toxic fumes when burned. The British Ministry of Magic considered poisonous candles to be dangerous and warned wizards and witches against purchasing them for obvious reasons.[3]
