This individual (fl. 1890) was the grandmother of Poppy Sweeting, who lived with her while not at school.[2] While Poppy considered her to be almost her best friend, next to Highwing the Hippogriff, Poppy believed her gran worried she might do something ill-advised when dealing with poachers.[1]
History[]
At some point in her life, this woman gave birth to either Angus or Violet Sweeting, who in turn made her a grandmother through the conception of Poppy Sweeting. As this grandmother disapproved of the lifestyle of her child and made it clear that it was not a healthy way of life for her grandchild, she made several attempts to make Poppy live with her. When Poppy escaped with Highwing, she allowed her granddaughter to stay with her whenever she wasn't at Hogwarts.
During the 1890–1891 school year, this woman was assaulted by poachers in her home. This attack was a retaliation for when several poachers recognised Poppy when she and her friend were caught sabotaging an illegal dragon fighting ring. While she survived the encounter unscathed, the poachers did steal several research notes regarding the location of a nest of thought-to-be-extinct Golden Snidgets.
Personality[]
From the stories Poppy told about her, her grandmother was a caring person who loved Poppy like a daughter. She also valued magical beasts as much as Poppy did. This was evident when she spent time researching endangered animals in order to save them from poachers.
