A porcupine was a small spine-covered rodent.[1] They were indigenous to North America, South America, Africa, and southern Asia.[1]

Porcupine quills were used as an ingredient in the Cure for Boils.[2] They could also be used to make the Porcupine Robe, a special type of robe, which protected the wearer by hurting anyone who tried to attack them.[3]

Powdered Porcupine was a wizarding sweet presumably made from porcupines.[4]
