The Post Office Tower was commissioned by the General Post Office (GPO). Its primary purpose was to support the microwave aerials then used to carry telecommunications traffic from London to the rest of Great Britain[1]
History[]
Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley once flew over this Tower using the Flying Ford Anglia where some Muggles had spotted them and it was later reported and published in the Evening Prophet.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The BT Tower is a tall cylindrical building in London, England, located at 60 Cleveland Street, Fitzrovia W1T 4JZ. It has been previously known as the Post Office Tower, the London Telecom Tower and the British Telecom Tower.
- For the first several years of its existence, the Tower was officially secret, although how one is supposed to keep a 600-foot-tall building in the middle of a busy city a secret is anyone's guess, and the Tower was open to the public for much of this time.
Appearances[]
