Power Play was an offensive Quidditch tactic in which a large concentration of players was applied in a certain area of the pitch, in order to clear a path for the Chaser who was carrying the Quaffle.[1]
History[]
Ethan Parkin and his teammates used this tactic in the final Quidditch match of the 1966–1967 school year. It was this move, along with the Seeker catching the Golden Snitch shortly after, which lead to the team winning the match.[2]
Twenty years later, Ethan Parkin taught this move to the Quidditch team of his house (in which his daughter Skye was playing) shortly before the final match of the season. Parkin had initially been evasive about his use of the tactic in the 1967 match as it wasn't his usual individualistic style. However, Skye's teammate, Jacob's sibling, learned of it through Madam Hooch, who had refereed the match.[2]
