The effects of the Pus Squirting Hex
Pus is a yellowish fluid that is secreted in the human when they have an infection, such as pimples, as a defence mechanism against the infection.[1]
Magical usage[]
Certain magical plants could also secret their own similar fluids, such as Bubotubers, whose pus had high healing powers when diluted,[2] but creates painful boils when undiluted.[3]
The Pus Squirting Hex was a hex which causes yellowish pus to erupt from the victim's nose. Bob Ogden was hexed with this spell by Morfin Gaunt when he visited him in the Gaunt Shack in the 1920s.[4]
The Fever Fudge developed by Fred and George Weasley, caused large pus-filled boils to form in the eaters as a side effect on their rear bottom, but can be eliminated with a few drops of Murtlap Essence.[5] When Marietta Edgecombe has pustules in the formation of the word "SNEAK" for betraying the organisation, it activated Hermione Granger's jinx.[6] The pustules were immune to magical treatment, but they eventually faded and left scars.[7]
