The topic of this article is of a real-life subject that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. The Pyrenees are a mountain range in southwest Europe that form a natural border between Spain and France. The Palace of Beauxbatons is believed to be located somewhere in the Pyrenees, and its grounds were magically formed from the mountainous landscape.
Behind the scenes
- J. K. Rowling had previously stated that Beauxbatons was located near the city of Cannes. Pottermore, however, retcons this, instead placing its location in the Pyrenees.
- "The Pyrenees Mountains" is one of the incorrect answers to the question "After the Weasleys and Diggorys arrive at the Cup, where does the wizard say the next big party is coming from?" at the Wizard's Challenge; the correct answer is "Black Forest".
