These notes were written by R and scattered around Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1980s, usually giving instructions, warnings, or are simply a form of communication within R. Most of the notes were disguised as quills.

History

R's note (I)

This note was hidden in the Artefact Room and written in code, instructing whoever was reading it to search for the next clue in a common room.

Your next instructions have been Transfigured into a Black Quill, and hidden in the [unknown] Common Room. Failure to follow your instructions will result in severe punishment. - R

At the start of the 1985–1986 school year, Jacob's sibling and Rowan Khanna found the note and deciphered its meaning, therefore deducting that Ben Copper might have read this note and followed the instruction due to his disappearance at that time.

R's note (II)

This note was Transfigured into a black quill and hidden in a common room like the previous note said. The note pointed to a corridor at the east end of the fifth floor.

Proceed to the farthest corridor at the east end of the fifth floor. Transfigure this scroll back into a Black Quill, and return it to the [unknown] Common Room. Failure to follow your instructions will result in severe punishment. - R

During the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin Quidditch match in 1985, Jacob's sibling sneaked into the room and brought the quill out. After using Reparifarge and reading the note, they re-transfigured it into a quill and returned it to the room.

R's note (III)

The third note written by R

This note was also Transfigured into a black quill and hidden in the Artefact Room. At the start of the 1987–1988 school year, Ben Copper noticed everything had been moved around in said storage room and asked Jacob's sibling to look into it with him, at which point they found this message.

It is time to unleash it. Ensure Dumbledore does not get in the way. Consider this a test. - R

R's note (IV)

This note was also Transfigured into a black quill and placed in the Three Broomsticks Inn. The note appeared to be written shortly after Jacob's sibling encountered the Dementor, and discovered after they and Nymphadora Tonks pulled off a prank at the inn. It was noted to have trailed off, as if written in a hurry and the writer could not finish it.

As requested, I've brought the Dementor to Hogwarts. It has already made contact. Despite an encounter with the Hogwarts staff, I ensured that it eluded capture. I will continue to keep an eye on the situation. So far...

R's note (V)

This note was found by Merula Snyde after she, Jacob's sibling and Tonks successfully defeated the Dementor. It contained the mere words "Congratulations, you passed. - R".

R's note (VI)

This note was also Transfigured into a black quill and hidden in Filch's office. It warned Madam Rakepick to stay away from the Cursed Vaults.

This is your final warning. Stay away from Hogwarts, and above all, stay away from the Cursed Vaults. If you ignore this warning, you will not receive another letter, Madam Rakepick. You will simply cease to exist. - R

It was found by Jacob's sibling who actually intended to steal a broom from Filch's office.

R's note (VII)

This note was Transfigured into a white quill and carried along by Sickleworth. It was clearly a message for Jacob's sibling regarding the events in the Buried Vault.

You still owe us a friend's life and we intend to collect. - R

It was recognised as a note by Jacob, who read it with Jacob's sibling during the 1989–1990 school year.

R's note (VIII)

This note was also Transfigured into a white quill and hidden at the Black Lake shore. It was a letter for the wizard in white robes.

We've received word that the Ministry's authorised the use of Dementors to assist in your capture. They will be deployed imminently to subdue and send you to Azkaban. Don't get yourself caught. Remain near Hogwarts and await further instructions.

It was found by Jacob's sibling and Talbott Winger during the 1989–1990 school year.

R's note (IX)

This note was Transfigured into a black quill and hidden in Jacob's room. It was intended for Jacob.

Come to the Forbidden Forest Grove. We need to meet. - R

It was found by Jacob's sibling and Ben Copper shortly after the discovery of the previous note.

R's note (X)

This notes was also Transfigured into a black quill and hidden around the Whomping Willow.

Dark wizards and witches come ye all to Borgin and Burkes. Our mission continues. And our plans will not be deterred.

It also said the next meeting of this dark wizard society is set to happen soon.

It was found by Jacob's sibling and Merula Snyde during the 1989–1990 school year.

R's note (XI)

This notes was also Transfigured into a black quill and hidden around the Whomping Willow.

Be wise. As if you cross us again, there will be consequences.

It was found by Jacob's sibling and Corey Hayden during the 1990–1991 school year. Corey guessed it had been written by an individual older than Merula seeing as there were loops and curves among the letters. It is possible that the note was for Merula.
