A rat tail is a the tail of a rat. It was a common potion ingredient and was used in the Hair-Raising Potion.[1]
History[]
During the 1996–1997 school year at Hogwarts, Professor Slughorn reminded first-year Alys not to forget her rat tail after a Potions lesson.[2]
In the first Potions lesson of the 2008–2009 school year, Professor Slughorn asked his students to retrieve some rat tails for the Hair-Raising Potion.[3]
