Biography

In his third year, he wanted to go to Hogsmeade with his friends. However, one of his friends' parents didn't sign the permission form necessary for her to go. His other friend's cousin had given her a vial of Polyjuice Potion, so she had the idea to brew more Polyjuice Potion and disguise the three of them as students who did have permission. He stole the copy of Moste Potente Potions from the Hogwarts Library, and the friends started to brew the potion. However, during the brewing process, they misread the instructions and added more ingredients than necessary, causing the potion to explode and coat the Potions Classroom. They attempted to frame Slytherin student Barnaby Lee by stealing his potions textbook and planting it as evidence. However, when Jacob's sibling began to investigate, they changed plans. His friend attempted to frame Barnaby; however, she ended up getting caught in the process, and all three friends received punishment.

During the preparations for the Sphinx Club's demonstration in the student club challenge programme, everyone in the club received a letter warning that someone would try to sabotage the demonstration. He and his Hufflepuff friend were worried, so they wrote back, asking if there was anything they could do to help. They received a message back from someone calling themselves the 'Voice of Hogwarts', who claimed to be telling them how they could make sure the demonstration succeeded, but was in actuality tricking them into becoming saboteurs. He was given jars of 'magical bronzing polish' for the Hogwarts telescope, however they were actually jars of bewitched pixies. When he left one in the Hogwarts Library, someone broke it and the pixies got loose. He took the second jar to the Astronomy Tower and opened it, planning to use the polish to improve the telescope, but pixies swarmed and he and his friend ran. He was caught by Jacob's sibling, who was searching for a saboteur, and confessed to everything before then, prompted by Jacob's sibling, telling everything to Albus Dumbledore as well.
