- "Dumbledore gave his wand a little flick as if he was trying to get a fly off the end and a long golden ribbon flew out of it, which rose high above the tables and twisted itself snake-like into words"
- — Albus Dumbledore performing this spell[src]
There existed a spell (incantation unknown) that would conjure a ribbon from the caster's wand, which could be animated and used to draw symbols in the air.[1][2]
History[]
During the 1991 Start-of-Term Feast at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Great Hall, the Headmaster Albus Dumbledore conjured a long, golden ribbon with his wand in order to draw the lyrics of the school song "Hoggy Warty Hogwarts" in the air, as the students and staff sung it.[1]
On the 24 November 1994, after Harry Potter had finished the first of the Triwizard Tournament, Madam Olympe Maxime used this spell to display the scores she gave the competitors for the task in the air, giving Harry an eight out of ten with a long silver ribbon.[2]
