Richard Coyle is a English actor, who plays Aberforth Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.^[1]

Career[]

On 25 January 2021, while on an Instagram live with Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto (his co-stars on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Coyle stated that he had been working on Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore since September when asked about his facial hair. He went on to say that was all he was allowed to say and could not go into specifics.^[1]

On 14 May 2021, Fantastic Beasts fansite FantasticBeastsMovies.com reported that multiple personal sources have disclosed that Coyle will be playing the role of Aberforth Dumbledore.^[2] Following this, Coyle updated the location on his Twitter account to "Hogsmeade".^[3] This was confirmed in the trailer released on 13 December 2021.

Behind the scenes[]

Coyle portrays the role of Father Blackwood in the Netflix series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina; in contrast to his role as Aberforth Dumbledore, Blackwood is an evil warlock who worships the Devil and practises Dark Magic, being one of the show's main antagonists.
Coyle portrayed Moist von Lipvig, the lead character in the television adaptation of the late Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel Going Postal, and narrated audiobook versions of Going Postal and Pratchett's Making Money, with footnotes narrated by Bill Nighy. Other Discworld audiobooks released at the same time were narrated by Alfred Enoch and Jason Isaacs, also with footnotes narrated by Nighy.
