Richard Horne, also known as El Horno,[3] is a graphic designer, illustrator, author, and printmaker,[4] who grew up[5] and studied graphic design[6] in Yorkshire, England. He was a part of a designing team at Bloomsbury Publishing from 1999 to 2002, and was credited as the designer for the hardback cover of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.[2]
Horne was also in charge of designing and illustrating the covers of the original editions of Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.[2] His original designs for those books have been used in several translated editions around the world, such as French, Spanish, Chinese, Turkish, Polish and Croatian, among others.
After leaving Bloomsbury, Horne illustrated and authored 101 Things To Do, with more books to follow.[7]

Behind the scenes[]
- The original editions of Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with their publications preceding the release of the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, saw the Hogwarts Library books to be something from the Harry Potter universe brought to live and seen by fans for the first time, and since Horne was responsible for the general layout and style, his work is one of the first to showcase an object from the Wizarding world.
- Horne met the two richest women in England on the same day: J. K. Rowling for breakfast and the Queen at lunchtime.[1]
