This Wizard's Chess set was a chess set owned by Ron Weasley that had once been owned by his grandfather.[1]
Description[]
The chess set resembled the Muggle Lewis Chessmen found in the Isle of Lewis[2], in red and white designs. As it was a Wizard's Chess set, the pieces were animated and responded to vocal commands.[1]
History[]
At some point, this Wizard's chess set was acquired by Ron's grandfather, who used it long enough that the pieces started to respect him and his family.
At some point before the 1991–1992 school year, Ron Weasley acquired this chess set from his grandfather and brought it with him to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Whilst there, Ron played games against Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, with him and Harry thinking that Hermione losing to Ron at chess was good, as it was one of the few things she wasn't good at. Ron and Harry played a game around Christmas in 1991, where Harry borrowed Seamus Finnigan's Wizard's chess set. That Christmas, Harry also acquired his own chess set which he played Ron with, loosing spectacularly.[1]
Ron presumably used this chess set during the matches he had with Harry and Hermione in later years.
