The Rookwood Gang was a criminal wizarding organisation in the 19th century. The gang was composed of two divisions: Thieves and extortionists called Ashwinders, and poachers called the Poacher Pack.[1][2]
History[]
Originally ran by Victor Rookwood's father, Victor Rookwood took over as leader of the crime ring at the young age of twenty-two after his father's untimely and suspicious death. He quickly grew the business to become the most successful gang in the region. Local thieves and poachers began to take notice and found it advantageous to align with him and his gang. He soon manipulated these partnerships, seizing complete control and increasing his stronghold to include a lucrative extortionist racket. While his sights were set on becoming Europe's most notorious underworld player, he pushed this gang to fill his coffers by victimising Hogsmeade's residents and the surrounding villages, robbing travellers blind, smuggling rare magical beasts and selling them to the highest bidders, and demanding protection payments from Hogsmeade's shopkeepers.[1]
