- "Some love potions use more thorns instead of rose petals, although I personally have found the effects of these potions tend to be brief and somewhat unstable."
- — Zygmunt Budge[src]
Rose thorns were sharp, hard structures found on the stem of a rose. They had magical proprieties and were used as an ingredient for love potions,[2] though Zygmunt Budge felt potions made with rose thorns were of brief effect and unstable, and preferred to use rose petals instead.[3]
History[]
During the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Jacob's sibling with the help of Rowan Khanna and Barnaby Lee harvested rose thorns from roses growing in the Herbology Classroom in order to brew a love potion with Penny Haywood int the Artefact Room.[4]
