Ross Gibberd was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1990s. He played informal Quidditch matches with other students during the 1996–1997 school year.

Etymology

The name Ross comes from a Scottish and English surname which meant "promontory" in Gaelic, originally belonging to someone who lived on a headland. Ross may also come from the old French "rous" meaning "red". A famous bearer of the surname was Sir James Clark Ross (1800-1862), an Antarctic explorer.
