"I've been pinching myself ever since I got here. I'm definitely not in Texas anymore!"
— Ruby to Jacob's sibling[src]

Ruby Honeysuckle was an American witch who worked as an agent for the Rare, Obscure, and Confounding Case Division in the British Ministry of Magic.[3]

Biography[]

Early years[]

"I couldn't even dream of something like this when I was wrangling jackalopes on my family's farm! And certainly not when I was training to be a Healer at St Mungo's!"
— Ruby regarding ROCC headquarters[src]

Ruby originated from Texas in the United States of America and belonged to a wizarding farming family. She would often wrangle jackalopes on her family's farm.

Ilvermorny years[]

She attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in her youth[3] where she was sorted into Pukwudgie. She was the first in her family to be sorted into Pukwudgie which made her parents so proud. At some point, Pukwudgie house won the Charms Chalice.[7] She used to sneak snacks into the school.[3] She chose Xylomancy as an elective, though she was not sure why.[7]

Career[]

She originally trained to become a Healer at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in London.[3] She met Eris Foxglove after moving to London and the two began dating.[10]

In 1991, Ruby met Jacob's sibling in the ROCC headquarters in London, who was a fellow new recruit of the mysterious division. The two were both equally curious about what secretive work they would do for ROCC. They later chatted in the Break Room, where they met Olivia Green, who reminded them to attend their orientation. They then met their orientation leader Callum McClintock. Ruby was impressed with how her colleague seemed to know everyone, and how friendly people were. She also commented that the ROCC headquarters seemed larger than Texas.[3]

She organised the Graphorn attack because Jacob's sibling was getting too close to the truth, but valued their friendship and chose to take the hit herself. She later faked her own death after starting the art gallery fire, to cover her tracks and keep Eris safe. When she told Eris, Eris was angry, saying that she ruined everything and left.[10]

Presumed death[]

At some point during her career with ROCC, Ruby was thought to have been killed by Fiendfyre at a charity auction at an art gallery. According to Crescent Flump while breaking the news of her 'death', she had saved over a dozen lives in the incident.[12]

Physical description[]

Ruby had red hair in a ponytail with light skin and green eyes.[3]
