A Salamander birthing from its fire
Salamander fire[1] was a term used to describe a magical fire that had given birth to a Fire Dwelling Salamander. Once a fire had produced a salamander, it would continue to birth new salamanders until the fire was extinguished.[2]
Left to its own devices, a salamander could live for up to six hours outside of its fire if fed pepper regularly. A salamander would die instantly once its salamander fire had been extinguished, however.[3]
