The scarab beetle is an insect native to Egypt. The dung beetle is a type of scarab beetle.[2]
Uses
Ground scarab beetles are used as ingredients in the Wit-Sharpening Potion.[1] Five scarab beetles are used in the Skele-Gro healing potion.[3]
History
During the 1987–1988 school year, Severus Snape sent scarab beetles to Poppy Pomfrey in a failed attempt to help students afflicted by the Sleepwalking curse.[4]
