- " [...] which means, of course, that assuming we have achieved correct identification of the potion's ingredients by Scarpin's Revelaspell, our primary aim is not the relatively simple one of selecting antidotes to those ingredients in and of themselves, but to find that added component which will, by an almost alchemical process, transform these disparate elements -"

Scarpin's Revelaspell (incantation unknown) was a spell that was used to correctly identify the ingredients of a given potion.[1]
History[]
During the 1996–1997 school year, Professor Horace Slughorn instructed his sixth-year Potions class to use this spell in a lesson on antidotes, although most of them were absolutely clueless. The only one who truly knew what to do was Hermione Granger, who was casting the spell nonverbally, but doing the antidote extremely slowly anyway and not finishing on time.[1]
