A Screaming Yo-yo is a magical toy that presumably shrieks when a person plays with it.
History
During a History of Magic class in the 1988–1989 school year, Nymphadora Tonks dared Jacob's sibling to use a Screaming Yo-yo to get Cuthbert Binns's attention. The attempt failed.[1]
Argus Filch added the Yo-yos to the list of items forbidden at Hogwarts at the start of the 1994–1995 school year.[2]
Screaming Yo-yos were sold at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes for a price of five Galleons.[3] Fred and George Weasley caught a boy trying to steal one of these[4] and warned him that if he did so, he would be paying in more than Galleons.
Behind the scenes
- Screaming Yo-yos are available for purchase at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Just as the name suggests, they scream when used.
