"Thicknesse had fallen to the ground with tiny spikes erupting all over him; he seemed to be turning into some form of sea urchin."
Pius Thicknesse after being subjected to the jinx by Percy Weasley[src]

The Sea Urchin Jinx[2] (incantation unknown) was a jinx that transfigured the target victim into something similar to a sea urchin, with tiny spikes erupting all over the victim's body. It apparently created awful discomfort in the target.[1]

History[]

Sea Urchin Jinx

A practical demonstration of this jinx on Ismelda Murk

During the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Bill Weasley taught this jinx to a group of sixth-year students in one of his Defence Against the Dark Arts tutoring sessions. During this class, Ismelda Murk used the jinx on Ben Copper.[2]

This spell was used on 2 May 1998, during the Battle of Hogwarts, by Percy Weasley on an Imperiused Pius Thicknesse. This happened right before his brother Fred died as the result of an explosion.[1]
