Seraphina Bones was a witch whose portrait hung at Hogwarts Castle in the 1990s.[3] It is possible that Seraphina was a forerunner of the Bones family, which was active in the 20th century.

Notes and references[]
- ↑ J. K. Rowling stated at the Edinburgh Book Festival on 15 August 2004 (source) that all portraits at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are of deceased individuals. Thus, Seraphina must have died sometime in or before 1991, given her portrait's appearance in the Harry Potter films.
- ↑ "In Chapter 4 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Horace Slughorn states that family members are often Sorted into the same House. This may indicate that Seraphina was Sorted into Hufflepuff, as she is likely an ancestor of Susan Bones, a Hufflepuff. However, there are exceptions.
