- "I'll have you know this cauldron belonged to none other than former Headmaster Severus Snape. It might not look like much, but some truly exceptional potions were brewed in here."
- — Horace Slughorn to a student[src]
This cauldron belonged to Severus Snape during his lifetime. After his murder at the hands of Lord Voldemort, it was kept by Horace Slughorn as a keepsake.[1]
History[]
On 9 January during an unknown year in the 2010s, Slughorn showed this cauldron to a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, speculating that the humble nature of the cauldron might have reflected on Snape's own humble upbringing, and his belief that one's background should not be relevant in the classroom – that only their effort and intelligence mattered.[1]
