"Harry turned and saw something monstrous cutting through the water toward them: a human body in swimming trunks with the head of a shark. . . . It was Krum. He appeared to have transfigured himself — but badly."
—Krum after having transfigured himself into a shark in the Great Lake[src]

In 1995, for the second task of the Triwizard Tournament which took place in the Great Lake at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Viktor Krum partially transfigured himself into a shark to complete it.[4]

The Dukuwaqa, mascot of the Fijian National Quidditch team, is a magical creature capable of shape-shifting between the forms of a shark and a human.[5]

Behind the scenes

  • Sharks were briefly mentioned in the W.O.M.B.A.T. test as a question about what would receive the heaviest punishment. Another one of the questions discussed using the Cruciatus Curse on a shark attacking a Muggle.
