Shell Shiner was a potion and ointment which was used for shining the shells of magical beasts including Fire Crabs, Mackled Malaclaws, Streelers and all other shelled creatures. Its ingredients included dittany, wormwood, and salt water. It only requires a few drops per dose, but should not be used on newly born beasts.[1]

Newton Scamander owned some Shell Shiner during his travels in 1926, which he would have used to shine the shells of his various magical beasts he kept living in his suitcase.[2]
