- "I've spent the last five years cultivating luminous pumpkins, flying pumpkins, singing pumpkins and exploding pumpkins.... This is my livelihood, I'm not going down without a fight."
- — Dagbert Pips to the Daily Prophet, regarding proposed Ministry Hallowe'en restrictions[src]
A singing pumpkin was a magical pumpkin capable of song, cultivated by the wizard Dagbert Pips, sold in his shop Pumpkins R Us, which were sold to wizards for the Hallowe'en season.[2]
History[]
In 1984 these pumpkins were supplied to Hogwarts by Pips after Pumpkin Johnny smashed all of Hagrid's pumpkins. However, they turned out to be a nuisance and Dumbledore said he would never buy from Pips again.[1]
In the 1990s, Pips wrote to the Daily Prophet expressing his dismay over proposed British Ministry of Magic restrictions on how wizards could celebrate Hallowe'en, saying that he had spent the last five years cultivating his magical pumpkins for a living.[2]
