Sirius is a star.[1]

On the morning of 2 September 1890, Amit Thakkar was stargazing in the Ravenclaw common room and mentioned being able to see Sirius.[1]
Three members of the House of Black were named after Sirius: Sirius Black (I), Sirius Black (II), and Sirius Black III.[2]
