This skirmish was one of the conflicts that took place during the Battle of Hogwarts. After Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters managed to break the protective enchantments around Hogwarts Castle at midnight of 2 May, 1998, the Death Eater forces led their attack toward the Castle, breaching into The Quad, where they fought with a group of Hogwarts students.
History
Background information
After Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters managed to break the protective enchantments around Hogwarts Castle, the Battle of Hogwarts began. Duels broke out in the grounds as the Death Eaters made their way toward the Castle. A while later, the Death Eaters had made it to the foot of the Castle, and used giants to breach into the north battlements. As Death Eaters penetrated its walls, duels started breaking out within the Castle.[1]
The skirmish
As more and more Death Eaters fought their way into the Castle, the offensive got more intense. Blasts of fire crossed the dark sky only to hit the towers and walls sending fallen masonry and glass flying everywhere. [2]
A group of Hogwarts students intercepted a number of Snatchers and Death Eaters that made their way into The Quad. Duels broke out, sending spells flying across the courtyard, and setting fire to the surrounding turrets and destroying part of the battlements around the Quad.[2]
Behind the scenes
This skirmish can only be seen in the video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, when Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley make their way to the Boathouse through The Quad battlements as the Death Eaters arrive there. The skirmish can be seen from a distance in the courtyard below, although the enemy NPCs (Snatchers) cannot be hurt by spells. But if you do an Expelliarmus or a Petrificus Totalus on the shields of the people which are below, their shields will break.
