A sloth brain was the brain taken from a sloth, which was used as a potion ingredient.[3] The mucus from the brain was a key ingredient in a dragon dung fertiliser[1] and Wiggenweld Potion.[4]

Many older students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry favoured stealing sloth brains from Severus Snape's secret stores, and splattering the mucus on the floors of corridors, much to the displeasure of Argus Filch, the caretaker.[3]
During the 1991–1992 school year, Fred and George Weasley stole a sloth brain from Professor Snape's stores and hid it somewhere in the Forgotten Grounds. It was found and retrieved by Harry Potter, who brought it to Potions class.[3]
