Etymology[]
Smethwick is a town in the West Midlands, England. Its name may mean "village of smiths," from the plural form of Old English smiþ, "smith," and wic, "village."[5] Another theory is that the town's name derives from Old English smethe, "smooth," and wic, "village," thus meaning "village on a plain."[6]
