- "Within a year an unknown species of snakewood tree had grown out of the earth on the spot where the wand was buried. It resisted all attempts to prune or kill it, but after several years the leaves were found to contain powerful medicinal properties. This tree seemed testament to the fact that Slytherin's wand, like his scattered descendants, encompassed both noble and ignoble. The very best of him seemed to have migrated to America."

Snakewood[1] (German: Schlangenholz)[2] is a common name for various trees that have a wavy grain in their wood. It most commonly refers to trees in the genus Brosimum.[3]
Description[]
Snakewood had magical properties, and could be used as a wand wood. Garrick Ollivander did not use the wood, but Mykew Gregorovitch did, selling at least one wand using the wood in his wand shop.[2] Salazar Slytherin crafted his wand from snakewood.[1] Jacob Kowalski's fake wand gifted to him from Albus Dumbledore was also made from snakewood.[4]
A unique magical snakewood tree resisted attempts to prune or kill it, and its leaves had powerful healing properties. The tree grew from the spot where Isolt Sayre buried Salazar Slytherin's wand.[1]
