A Snidget Sanctuary was a reservation set up for the protection of Golden Snidgets, which were protected under wizarding law in the 14th century by Chief Elfrida Clagg. One such sanctuary was the Modesty Rabnott Snidget Reservation in Somerset.[1]
During the 1990–1991 school year, Snidgets were smuggled by at least three witches and wizards from the Somerset sanctuary.[2] Sometime during the early 1990s, a group of Golden Snidgets were found running wild around Hogwarts Castle. Rubeus Hagrid enlisted the assistance of the school's four Seekers to humanely catch these Snidgets so they could be returned to a sanctuary.[3]
