Argus Filch covered in soot
Soot is a black powder formed from the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It is carcinogenic and dangerous for humans to ingest.[1]
History[]
After using the Floo Network for the first time in August 1994, Harry Potter was covered in soot after having accidentally arrived in the fireplace of Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley.[2]
In the 1980s or early 1990s, Penny Haywood accidentally left Argus Filch a Christmas gift which exploded into a cloud of soot when opened. The soot was magically enchanted so that everyone but Filch would be able to clean it up. Jacob's sibling eventually cleaned it up for Filch.[3]
