The Soviet Union was a global power that held land across Europe and Asia, lasting between 1922 and 1991. It was a one-party state ruled by a communist government.[1] The Soviet Union was a nuclear power.[2]
The state's dissolution coincided with the independence or emergence of the following states: Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Armenia, and others.[3]
History[]
The wizarding community in the Soviet Union would have been educated at Koldovstoretz, the Russian wizarding school.[4]
Nuclear weapons owned by the Soviet Union were mentioned in the Daily Mail in 1981.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- It is unknown if the Soviet Union had any bearing on the wizarding world. A Russian delegate was said to have been present at a meeting of the International Confederation of Wizards in 1926,[5] but it is unknown whether this is a reference to the state he was representing, or merely his nationality. (Wizarding communities do not always overlap precisely with their Muggle country counterparts.)
