Space weather referred to the atmospheric conditions in outer space, that had an effect on planet Earth. Sunspots could help Astronomers predict the weather, along with other stars. The weather around stars could be also be forecasted by searching for starspots.[1]

In the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Aurora Sinistra taught her sixth-year Astronomy students about space weather during one of her evening classes.[1]
