- "When conjuring more complex objects, you'll need what's called a spellcraft. Spellcrafts are like recipes: they list the 'ingredients' — or resources — needed to conjure a particular object."
- — Professor Matilda Weasley[src]
A spellcraft was a recipe of resources needed when conjuring complex objects.[1][2]

During the 1890–1891 school year, they could be purchased from Thomas Brown at the Tomes and Scrolls shop in Hogsmeade.[3]

Behind the scenes[]
- In Hogwarts Legacy, Professor Weasley explains that conjuring objects out of thin air requires 'resources'. This system is primarily a game mechanic and contradicts how Transfiguration is depicted in the Harry Potter universe, where spells rely on the caster's skill, intent, knowledge, and concentration than material components. Therefore, it cannot be considered canon.
- However, since Transfiguration is a highly precise branch of magic that must be precisely performed, such recipe-based spellcraft can be more accurately described as a formulaic explanation of the parameters that would canonically need to be accounted for in order to conjure a specific inanimate object out of thin air successfully, predefined so that the caster does not have to work out the specifics themselves. The caster presumably had to visualise the object along with factors such as mass, size, and material composition, as well as focus, intent, concentration, and wand control in order to produce a stable, sustainable result. Additionally, as the player can style these items, it is also likely that properly and safely modifying each of these factors is one of the parameters itself.
