Spotted dick is a steamed suet pudding, containing dried fruit (commonly currants or raisins) served with custard.[2] It is a common English dessert that was served at the Welcoming Feast on 30 October 1994.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- The dessert disappears from the Polish translation of the book; in place of the words "Spotted dick, look!", the words "Ja cię kręcę, zobacz!" are used. "Ja cię kręce!" is a Polish exclamation similar to "Golly!" or "Woah!" in English. The translator, Andrzej Polkowski, presumably assumed that "spotted dick" was an exclamation, and not a dessert.
